Kyle seems to be adjusting really well to the homework load given him so far this term. He's been diligently dividing his homework up so that he has a fairly reasonable amount to do each day. Sunday night he used me as a guinea pig so that he could practice explaining how to do the "problem of the week" from his Math for Teaching class. He is already really good at explaining things in ways that even I can understand. The problem of the week was a really confusing complicated algebra problem (at least, it was to me), but he helped me follow along really easily by the way he explained things, and consistently pointed back and forth between the relevant parts of the problem, so as to keep the whole problem from seeming huge! Now, I'm not terrible at math, but I do need things explained thoroughly. I also get easily frustrated and overwhelmed by complicated problems. I suppose I'm probably good practice for working with the average math student then, haha. Anyway, I just thought it was really neat to watch him practice teaching a bit:) He'll be a great math teacher:) He's already really good at explaining things clearly and effectively; and as long as he can get the girls in his class to focus on the problem instead of the teacher, I'm sure he'll be great;)
